2011 Umpire Exchange with Ireland

An umpire exchange programme has been put in place with our colleagues in Ireland. To kick off the process, 2 Irish umpires will be officiating in Scotland on the weekend of 18 and 19 June, whilst later in the summer, 2 Scottish umpires will get the chance to practise their skills in the Emerald Isle.

Ian returns to Lords

28 March 2011
Scotland's number one umpire, and our only member of the ICC Associate and Affiliate International Umpires Panel, Ian Ramage, will be returning to HQ on April 21 for the MCC v Scotland match. Ian has been appointed to this match by MCC on this occasion. Three years ago, when the match featured the first use of a pink ball in the UK, if not the whole cricketing world, Ian had been Cricket Scotland's appointee. This year, it is understood that Cricket Scotland will be appointing Brian Papworth to partner Ian. The best of luck to both of them.

Promotion for Scottish Umpires

ICC Europe have just announced their Umpiring panels for season 2011 and congratulations go to Allan Haggo who joins the Umpires panel for the first time and Alex Dowdalls who has been elevated to the Elite Panel. Lindsay Horne, Billy McPate and James Wilson remain on the Umpires panel whilst Ian Ramage and Brian Papworth continue on the Elite panel. Well done to all of them!

Scotland's Number 1 on his travels again

Scotland's number 1 umpire, Ian Ramage, is off on his travels again. He will be leaving the ice and snow behind him on 30th November to fly to Dubai to umpire the Intercontinental Shield final between Namibia and UAE from 2nd to 5th December. Ian's only worry is that he won't have much time to prepare, not having umpired since mid-September. No doubt the sun on his back will soon ease him back into the swing of things. One would think that being a Newcastle supporter would be a much bigger worry.
